The Coffee Taste Profile Generator
The Coffee Taste Profile Generator allows you to identify the specific tastes in your brew. It works by comparing your observations with the flavors in a large database of common flavours and descriptions. The tool was created by a collaboration between the Specialty Coffee Association of America and World Coffee Research. It is intended to be used with the coffee lexicon developed by WCR, which provides clear and simple instructions for tasting reference samples that correspond to the flavors shown on the flavor wheel. We have 5 senses that allow us to perceive taste nuances, namely sweet, sour, salty, and bitter (plus umami). However, we only consciously experience 4 of these in our daily consumption of coffee. Experts can be distinguished by their ability to recognise and describe a wide range of these nuances in coffees. Crafting Your Ideal Coffee Taste Profile: A Generator Tool A major gap in the literature is that the flavor modulation effects of roasting process control parameters are typically only reported in terms of their effect on aroma chemistry with no sensory descriptive analysis or consumer testing results. The Coffee Taste Profile Generator aims to fill this knowledge gap and make it easy for everyone to explore the world of coffee in a fun and intuitive way. All you need to do is enter a few details about your preferred coffee. This could be general descriptions like “fruity”, “nuttiness”, or even if you prefer lighter or darker roast levels. We then use our artificial intelligence to gather data from a vast array of trusted sources and create a list of coffees for you to try that best match your preferences.
